1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you provide

  • Account information. When you sign up (including via Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, or by email), we collect your name or display name, email address, and authentication identifiers. We do not receive or store your Google/Apple password.
  • Profile information. Your display name, optional bio, profile and cover photos, gender, birthday, relationship status, and similar details you choose to add.
  • Dog profiles. Information about your dog(s), such as name, photos, breed, age/birthday, and notes you add.
  • User content. Posts ("barks"), comments, reposts, images you upload, park check-ins and planned visits, ratings you give other dogs, group memberships, and direct or group messages.
  • DoggySit information. Sitting requests and offers, including the dogs involved, time windows, drop-off location or address, notes, and whether a request is a favor or paid.
  • Payment and subscription information. If you purchase a premium subscription, the purchase is processed by Apple, Google, or our payment processor. We receive confirmation of your subscription status and limited transaction metadata; we do not receive your full payment card number.
  • Support, reports, and communications. Information you provide when you contact us, submit a report about content or another user, or otherwise communicate with us.

1.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device & app information. Device model, operating system and version, app version, language, time zone, and general settings.
  • Usage information. Features you use, screens you view, and actions you take within the app, used to operate and improve the Services.
  • Location information. With your permission, approximate or precise device location to show nearby parks, "who's here now," and to support check-ins and DoggySit. See Location data.
  • Push notification tokens. A device push token so we can deliver notifications you've enabled.
  • Log & technical data. IP address, request metadata, and diagnostic information generated when your app communicates with our servers.

1.3 Information from third parties

  • Sign-in providers. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information (such as name and email) that you authorize them to share.
  • App stores & payment processors. Apple, Google, and our payment processor provide subscription and purchase status used to manage entitlements.
  • Mapping data providers. Map and place data is provided by third-party mapping services to display parks and locations.

2. Categories & sources (for U.S. state-law disclosures)

We use each category for the business purposes described in Section 3. We do not sell these categories, and we do not currently use them for cross-context behavioral advertising; if our advertising practices change, we will update this Policy and provide the choices described in Sections 7 and 13.

3. How we use information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
  • To operate core features — the map, parks, visits, feed, ratings, groups, messaging, notifications, and DoggySit.
  • To show nearby parks, who is present, and relevant local activity based on your location.
  • To process and manage premium subscriptions and entitlements.
  • To send you transactional and (where enabled) push notifications, including offers/confirmations and reminders.
  • To keep the community safe — including automated content moderation, spam prevention, rate limiting, blocking, and reviewing reports.
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
  • To maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Services.
  • To display and measure advertising or promoted content within the Services, if and when we offer it (see Section 7).
  • To comply with law and enforce our Terms.

4. Encryption & message privacy

Boopsy is designed to keep your private content private. Direct (one-to-one) and group messages are end-to-end encrypted using keys generated and held on your devices. This means message content is encrypted before it leaves your device, and we cannot read it. Because of this design, we cannot recover message content if you lose access to your device or keys, and encrypted messages are not subject to automated content moderation. All traffic between the app and our servers is additionally encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and the app pins our server's certificates to resist interception.

5. Content moderation & automated processing

To keep the Services safe and to comply with app-store requirements, publicly viewable content — such as feed posts, comments, profile and dog names/bios, and photos that are visible to other users — is screened by automated tools before or when it is published. This includes a text filter for prohibited content and an automated image-safety check performed by an artificial-intelligence model operated within our cloud provider's environment. This processing is used solely for safety and policy enforcement. As noted above, end-to-end encrypted messages are not scanned. You can also block users and report content; reports are reviewed by our team.

6. Location data

Location features are optional and controlled by your device permissions. With your permission, we use your approximate or precise location to display nearby parks, show current activity, support check-ins, and power DoggySit drop-off and "nearby" matching. You can change or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; some features may not work without it. When you enter a drop-off address for DoggySit, it may be converted to coordinates using a third-party geocoding service.

7. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not currently share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws). We share information only as described here:

  • With other users. Your profile, dog profiles, public posts, ratings you make visible, group activity, and DoggySit requests are shared with other users according to the audience and visibility settings you choose. Please be thoughtful about what you post.
  • With service providers. We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf to run the Services (see Section 8). They are bound by contract to use it only for that purpose.
  • For legal & safety reasons. To comply with law, legal process, or lawful requests; to enforce our Terms; to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Blokhaus Inc., our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as a business asset, subject to this Policy.
  • With your consent or at your direction.

Advertising. Boopsy does not currently display third-party advertising. We may introduce advertising or promoted content in the future — for example, sponsored posts in the feed. Where we do, we expect it to be primarily contextual (based on what you are viewing in the app, not on tracking you across other apps and websites). If we later use advertising partners or personalized (interest-based) advertising, we will update this Policy, describe the data involved, and provide the notices and controls required by law — including any App Tracking Transparency permission on iOS and the opt-outs in Section 13 — before that change takes effect. We do not use the content of your end-to-end encrypted messages for advertising.

8. Service providers

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to operate the Services, which may process limited personal information on our behalf, including:

  • Cloud infrastructure, storage & AI moderation — Cloudflare (application hosting, database, encrypted media storage, and in-environment AI image moderation).
  • Authentication — Google and Apple sign-in.
  • Payments & subscriptions — Apple App Store, Google Play, and our payment processor.
  • Push notifications — the Expo / Apple / Google push delivery services.
  • Maps & place data — third-party mapping and geocoding providers.
  • Transactional email — an email delivery provider used for operational messages such as trust & safety reports.

The specific providers may change over time as we improve the Services; this Policy describes the categories so you understand how your information flows.

9. Cookies & local storage

The mobile app uses on-device storage (such as secure storage and local caches) to keep you signed in, store your encryption keys, remember preferences, and improve performance. Our website uses Farwatch, a privacy-friendly analytics service that counts page views without cookies, cross-site tracking, or advertising identifiers, and may use strictly necessary cookies or local storage to function. The website does not currently use third-party advertising cookies. If we introduce advertising on the website or in the app, we will update this Policy and provide any cookie controls and opt-outs required by law.

10. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, and afterward only as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information and content within a commercially reasonable period, except for limited information we are required or permitted by law to retain. Note that content you shared with others (for example, a message another user received) may remain visible to them, and backups are purged on a rolling schedule.

11. Data security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including end-to-end encryption of messages, encryption in transit, certificate pinning, access controls, private (non-public) media storage, and rate limiting. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please protect your device and account credentials.

12. Your choices & rights

  • Access & update. You can view and edit your profile, dog profiles, and content in the app.
  • Delete. You can delete individual content and you can delete your entire account from within the app, which removes your personal information as described in Section 10.
  • Location, notifications, and tracking. Manage these in your device settings at any time.
  • Communications. Any optional or promotional communications can be turned off in settings.
  • Advertising. If we introduce advertising, you will have the choices described in Sections 7 and 13.

13. U.S. state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under state privacy laws, including the laws of New Hampshire (the New Hampshire Privacy Act, effective January 1, 2025), California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws. Subject to those laws and verification, you may have the right to:

  • Know / access the personal information we have collected about you and how we use and disclose it;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Delete personal information we hold about you;
  • Portability — obtain a copy of certain information in a portable format;
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information and of targeted advertising and certain profiling. We do not currently sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not currently engage in targeted advertising. If that changes, we will provide a clear opt-out (such as a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" control and recognition of opt-out preference signals) before doing so; and
  • Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

How to exercise your rights. Email privacy@boopsy.com or use the in-app controls. We may need to verify your identity before responding, typically by confirming control of your account or email. You may use an authorized agent where permitted by law. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision; if you remain unsatisfied, you may contact your state attorney general (New Hampshire residents may contact the New Hampshire Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General).

California "Shine the Light." We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

14. Children's privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and certain features that facilitate in-person meetups (including DoggySit and park meetups) are intended for adults. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact privacy@boopsy.com and we will delete it.

15. International users

Boopsy is operated from the United States and intended for users in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

16. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, in the app). Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
